Providence Home is a six(6)-bed, non-therapeutic emergency shelter located in historic Southport, NC. We are seeking single individual or married couple who will function as residential House parents providing care, guidance, and support for youth ages, 10-17. Previous youth care experience is preferred; minimum of high school diploma or GED required. Applicants must have a valid Driver's License and an excellent driving record, be able to pass criminal background checks, and be able to work 7 days on (with site residence) and 7 days off (at your personal residence).
House Parents are responsible for 24 hour care and supervision of residents. Hope Inn Christ, an aftercare home for young men getting out of the juvenile system, has an immediate opening for an individual to live and work with youth in the home.  We are committed to providing a nurturing, Christ-centered environment for our youth.  The mission of Hope Inn Christ is to equip young men to become the persons God created them to be.


  • Live in the aftercare home and provide direct care for 1-5 young men (ages 16-21) that have been incarcerated in a Texas Juvenile Justice Department facility.
  • Work with youth to discover their goals and set actions steps

Discovery Home is seeking a full-time live-in House Parent. The House Parent/s will supervise and act as a role model for youth/young adults that live in the home. The group home parent will create and ensure that a physically and emotionally safe environment is provided for the youth. Room and board as well as access to the Group Home car are included in this position.
As a House Parent, you will work closely with each resident, teaching basic living skills, assisting with homework, and overseeing chores and meal preparation. You will also be an active participant in community outings, leisure activities, and other recreational activities daily.

Job Description:

 The Residential Couple supports the Mission and Values of Boys Hope Girls Hope. The Residential Couple is responsible for directing the operations of the home to create a family atmosphere that supports the development of the full child. The Residential Couple is part of a team of professionals and volunteers. They perform their duties relatively free from direct supervision, acting at all times in a professional manner.


I. Child Development and Health
a. Know and follow Boys Hope Girls Hope program policies and procedures regarding the care and development of scholars
b. Assume responsibility for scholars in residence, including daily decisions regarding health, safety, and discipline
c. Responsible for physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and academic development of scholars living in home in accordance with individual scholar service plans and Boys Hope Girls Hope program policies
e. Develop and maintain parent and/or guardian relationships and involvement in their child’s life
f. Teach transitional living skills

II. Academics
a. Monitors academic performance of scholars to identify areas of concern requiring additional support.
b. Maintains regular contact with teachers and schools, including representation of program at teacher conferences and related activities
c. Provides individual assistance and tutoring as needed.

III. Household Management
a. Assure that home functions in accordance with Boys Hope Girls Hope program and licensing standards
b. Maintain the home in a clean and safe condition, providing for nutritional and physical needs of scholars

IV. Administrative and Record Keeping
a. Maintain scholar and program files in accordance with licensing
c. Schedule, facilitate, prepare and update scholar quarterly service plans for approval by the Director of Residential Programs

V. Community Relations
a. Maintain, and role model for scholars, positive relations with neighbors, community groups, schools and authorities.
