Job Description:

Sunridge Ranch III is now hiring a committed couple to work as House Parents to job share, one week on, one week off each month, caring for four autistic young men in a beautiful new group home. The home is located in Ellensburg, WA in a community of three similar homes and anchored by a community center/farm where our young men go to learn life and job skills.

House Parents live on-site while on duty in a beautiful, private suite. The responsibilities of the caregivers are to oversee the Residents’ established daily routines, cook meals and to care for the home. Other responsibilities include getting the residents to their day-program and back and for planning and doing fun outings with them (parks, picnics, hikes, gardening, etc). Some require help with personal care and hygiene.

You should be energetic, patient, fun and organized. This is a high energy but very rewarding job. We strive to integrate all the typical daily opportunities experienced by individuals into a unifying whole, so that these young men’s lives are truly as rich and fulfilling as possible.

Starting hourly wage comes to $4,000.00 per month, per couple plus housing and food.

Regular wage increases occur based on hours worked along with a comprehensive benefit package including high-quality health insurance, PTO and retirement package provided by the State of WA.

Housing and meals as well as a house SUV to drive are provided when on-duty. We also provide a beautiful view home to live in when you are off duty although you can live wherever you want to.

Responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment with optimal learning for abused/neglected youth. House Parents work in a structured, home-like environment and are responsible for providing emotional, physical, intellectual and psychological support to clients. House Parents are responsible for teaching life skills to youth aging out of the foster care system.
The House Parents will provide youth with a caring environment in which to grow and learn; model and teach social skills, self-help skills, academic skills, and independent living skills; foster the moral and spiritual development of youth; administer the day-to-day operations of a large family residence; supervise and work with other professional Family Teachers in carrying out responsibilities; and maintain confidentiality of youth and program information. The Family Teacher is provided a private living area to sleep, shower, and spend time when they are not on duty and to receive personal visitors. The Family Teacher will model healthy grocery shopping with the residents as well as model independence by making their own healthy meals in the kitchen. Food, entertainment, household items, supplies, and utilities will be paid for by Carolina Youth Development Center as the House P lives in and manages the group home.

The House Parent will be responsible to care for up to 10 residents, aged 17-21. Initiates and ensures completion of daily activities related to maintenance of resident schedules including completion of chores, laundry, food service/meals. Initiates reports that improve the safety and security of the building. Actively takes steps to improve physical environment in order to increase the therapeutic nature of the program. Effectively assists Vice President of Programs in coordinating all aspects of the day-to-day program operations. Initiates proactive problem solving to improve client care services. Well established, state licensed (not religiously affiliated) group home in the Northern Shenandoah Valley looking for a dynamic couple for a full-time position on our team. The right couple would be mature, responsible, high-energy and prepared to love and care for abused/neglected/homeless children, ages 5-18 yrs old.

You must be able to work in a team-oriented environment as well as possess excellent organizational and time management skills. Annual salary is $33,000 per person, per year with medical, dental, and a retirement plan. House parents get 7 days of paid vacation per year as well as generous compensation for holiday’s that fall on their shifts.
House parents work rotating shifts of 7 days on/7 days off. Private In-House apartment, meals and utilities are provided for the 7 days House parents are on-duty. House Parents are responsible for their own living accommodations for the 7 days you they are off-duty.
