Job Description:

 The House Parent works under the direction of the Community Services Director, managing the care of up to several children at one time. Working collaboratively with the Community Services staff, the House Parent helps develop and implement program, organizational, therapeutic and behavior plans and facilitates optimal adjustment for Tribal youth.

The House Parent is the custodian of all children residing in the Tribal Foster Home. When children are in the home, the position can require up to 24 hours per day, 7 days a week oversight of the children.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
• An Associate’s Degree with an emphasis on Child Development, Psychology, Counseling, Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Social Welfare, Social Science or Social Psychology preferred. Nine semester units must be related to children with behavioral problems

Experience:
• Two years of experience working in a residential or school setting with special needs children or at least four years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in a level 12 group home
• Experience working with Native American families and youth


Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
• Have a valid California Driver’s License
• Ability to pass a background screening and a Child Abuse Clearance Index (CACI) screening
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Ability to pass the First Aid, CPR and Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention (NVPCI) courses offered by UAIC within the first six months of employment

Job Description:

Hillside Haven is seeking a responsible, caring married couple to become houseparents for 2 weeks per month. Hillside Haven is located in Ellensburg, WA, just 2 hours east of Seattle. Hillside Haven was created to promote independent living for four young men with autism and other developmental disabilities.
Our mission is to provide a life sharing home focusing on living as independently as possible in a safe, caring home. The care philosophy of Hillside Haven emphasizes encouragement and positive reinforcement with support and respect for each resident. The houseparents are responsible for overseeing their established daily routines while caring for the home. We strive to integrate daily opportunities that a typical person might experience into a unifying whole, so that life is truly as rich and fulfilling as possible.

Hillside Haven was constructed on 6 acres with stunning views of the valley, mountains, and Mt. Rainier. The house offers open concept living room, dinning room, and spacious kitchen. There is also a movie room and an office. Downstairs there are four private suites for each resident owner, the houseparent's suite, a tv room, and laundry room.
Position salary $48,150.00 annually with increases per SEIU (SEIU beginning rate of $16.75 per hour). This will run 2 weeks on (live in) followed by 2 weeks off.

Residents you are caring for attend an off-site (Trellis Center)support program 4 hours a day Mon – Fri, year-round. Houseparents are responsible for dropping them off with the provided vehicle and picking them up at the end of the clients shift. Hours fluctuate according to season and circumstances. The Trellis Center is located approximately 1 mile from Hillside Haven.

Qualifications:
*Must meet the training requirements to become a Washington State Individual Provider (IP). Each HP will complete 75 hours of paid training to meet the requirements. Placement shall be contingent upon the results of a Washington State background check. Must have a valid Driver's License and First Aid/CPR certification.
*A High School diploma or equivalent, experience working with developmentally disable individuals preferred but no required.
* Caregivers need to be physically and mentally capable performing residents care plan which includes individual personal hygiene, meal planning, cooking, light housework and light yard maintenance.

Houseparents work with 6 - 8 youth ages 5-17 in family-structured homes.  Job Description Summary: The Houseparent will be responsible for the performance of her duties and will be appraised by implementation, consistency, quality and performance of her assigned duties toward empowering children and their families to follow Christ.

In order to respond at all hours to the needs of moms and children in the cottage, this is a full-time exempt position. Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children offers full-time personnel a compensation package which includes health insurance, life insurance, retirement and much more. Houseparents are required to live on campus in one of our on-campus cottages and is responsible for the day-to-day care, guidance and development of the children in their home.

In accordance with Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, this job is designated as safety-sensitive because of its requirement of ‘the operation of a motor vehicle, other vehicle, equipment, machinery or power tools’ as well as ‘direct patient care or direct child care’ and is therefore exempt from the anti-discrimination prohibitions of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Act.

Supervises: The Houseparents oversee the children in the cottage and campus where assigned. As in the biblical model of family, Houseparents are to help lead children in a Christ-like manner (Eph. 6:4).
