Position Location: 2 positions at Angels' Cove Maternity Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and 1 position at the Baptist Children's Home, Carmi, Illinois.

Position Summary:

Job Description:  

Mercy Manor is a nonprofit, faith based organization. The organization operates a maternity home for women under the age of 18 and is currently in search of Houseparent/houseparents.

Mercy Manor provides a safe and loving environment and resources for young ladies who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy. We seek to do this by meeting physical, spiritual, and mental needs as we walk hand and hand with each young lady through her pregnancy and beyond. Houseparents Qualifications:
The Houseparent shall be committed to serve and love the broken while creating a Godly Christian atmosphere.
• Be committed a Christian.
• Be qualified on the basis of personal character to work with expectant/young mothers and on their ability to serve as part of a team.
• Be over 23 years of age.
• Not have children under 3 years of age.
• Be a high school graduate.
• Have a valid "Class 1 or 2" Texas Driver's License.
• Have had one year of experience involving the supervision of a group of teenagers, or experience of a practical nature in working with youth.
• Be capable of providing leadership and spiritual guidance to each of the young women according to her specific needs.
• If married, be married for a minimum of 3 years.
• In their attitudes concerning teenage pregnancy, the Houseparents should have a neutral stance on adoption vs. raising the child but must have a pro-life belief.
• Be able to provide evidence of financial responsibility.
• Shall have a sympathetic understanding of each young woman and her unique situation.
• Shall not be the perpetrator in a substantiated report of neglect or abuse.
• If houseparents are parents of children still in the home, they shall demonstrate a parenting style that involves high acceptance, consistency, and appropriate discipline.
• 2 year commitment (must not be planning a pregnancy within those 2 years)

Job Description:  

Shared Living Host Opportunity

There is an opportunity to live as shared living host with two wonderful young men who attend the Nashoba Learning Group Adult Program. These two gentleman have been living in their new home in Boxboro for almost two years year (the first to move in) and eleven months (the second). They both have adjusted extremely well to their new living situation and made great strides in becoming more independent following a program managed by their current host who is a BCBA. Extensive training will be provided by the current host and select NLG staff familiar with the boys prior to move in. The host will continue to receive ongoing support from a BCBA in the home. The parents of the boys are hoping to find a caring individual, experienced in supporting individuals with autism, who would be looking to create a friendly family-like environment for the two residents, and help them realize their full potential. Couple preferred but experienced individuals will also be considered.

Compensation: approximately $99,000 per year tax free

Living situation: beautiful new 5 bedroom - 4 bathroom house located in Boxboro

Rent: $1,000 per month plus heat and electricity. Landscaping and maintenance paid by owner.

Host Responsibilities: Daily supervision and care of two residents including behavior management, meal planning and preparation, laundry, administering of medication and other typical household chores. Host will attend medical appointments and meetings at the Day program as needed, and transport one of the boys to their day program in the mornings

Typical Hours: weekdays: Boys attend NLG Adult Program 9:15 AM to 3:15 PM, have supervised after school activity 3 or 4 days per week, arrive home approximately 6 PM, go to bed 9 PM to 9:30 PM. weekends: responsible for supervision all day, except boys typically spend one weekend at parents home per month and all major Holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, 4th of July). Respite care frequently available as needed.

Job Description:  

Our houseparent's work alongside our support staff to meet our mission and provide a family-style environment to a maximum of 6 kids or sibling groups. At SCH our mission is to glorify God by providing services that meet children's physical, moral, mental, social and spiritual needs based on biblical truths and principles.

Essential Functions:

• Medical: You must meet the medical needs of the children in your cottage. Medications must be given as directed and handled according to licensing standards.
• Housekeeping: Cottages must be kept clean and orderly.
• Menus: Houseparents must serve children in their cottage healthy, home cooked meals and snacks. Minimize pre-packaged, frozen foods.
• Spiritual: Be an example of Christ in your home. Have devotionals, talk about Christ and what God does for us. Pray with your children. Allow them to participate in your church's youth group activities.
• Life Skills: Teach the children in your care daily life skills. When leaving your cottage, children should know how to do their laundry, do dishes, sweep and mop, cook simple meals, and other age appropriate responsibilities.

Core Competencies:

• Love – Give appropriate affection, be someone your children can run to when they are down, someone they can get encouragement from, play with the kids, sit down at meals together, be Christ-like examples.
• Patience/Understanding – Be calm, cool, collected, meet children's needs as they happen, manage the chaos, be slow to speak, slow to anger, swift to hear, have endurance.
• Laughter/humor – Its good medicine for the soul, have enthusiasm, practice positive humor.
• Memories/Moments – Be the kind of Houseparent that makes a positive impact and influence for the children's futures that are placed in your home, start traditions (holidays), remember its the small things.
• Play – Take the time to play, they are special, make them feel important, make chores fun.
• Meals together – Say one good thing about your day when you sit down around the table, all eat together (adults and kids), say prayers, turn off the TV, provide good snacks after school.
• Appropriate discipline – Connected Child, take advantage of teaching moments, Natural Lifemanship, hold children accountable for their actions
• Grace – Let your children have do overs and fresh starts.
